Shoulder Pain

How Physiotherapy, Remedial Massage and Exercise can help

Shoulders are an incredibly complex joint in our body and it takes a professional to be able to understand why your shoulder pain is happening. Our Physiotherapists are led by Senior Physio, Rhiannon Lewis, an expert in shoulders who has completed numerous courses and hours of complex cases. By providing expert advice and care we can help you understand your shoulder pain and what is required to have you moving better.

If you have been advised that shoulder surgery is required, we are to help you pre & post surgery, as well as offer you solutions on what you can do to hopefully prevent surgery being needed (based on individual circumstances).

Common causes of shoulder pain can include:

Repetitive actions/activities: repetitive movements such as throwing, manual labour and computer use can cause strain on shoulders, resulting in pain.

Tightness in the neck or mid-back: the joints and muscles in the mid-back are almost always involved in one way or another in shoulder pain.

Lots of muscles surround the shoulder and can impact the control or stability around the shoulder. Examples of muscles that have an influence on shoulder pain are the trapezius, levator scapulae, pectoralis minor, pectoralis major (pecs), rhomboids, latissumis dorsi (lats), and rotator cuff muscles.

Common conditions we treat related to shoulders:

arm and shoulder pain
shoulder joint pain
shoulder impingement
frozen shoulder
deltoid muscle pain
rotator cuff tendinopathy
calcific tendonitis
